OUR SOUL'S WORK
The following is an adaptation from my recent conversation with Jen Ciszewski on her podcast, Inspire Health by Jen. A comprehensive index + direct links can be accessed here. Enjoy!
THE TRANSCRIPT
Do you believe that everyone has a Soul’s Work?
Yes. I do believe that. I would say that we all have the same ‘work’ on this level. Our Soul’s Work is to experience a life of joy, and that is all. Expand. In. Joy. Those three words. That’s it. That is our Soul’s Work. Each of us has just one thing to do: expand in joy. That alone is our soul’s deepest work, and why we are alive in human form.
BUT. What does it mean to expand in joy for Jen? And how does it differ from what it means for Timothy to expand in joy? What is it that inspires you to action? What is it that excites enthusiasm, deepens fascination, takes your breath away, absorbs your full attention, calls you forward?
Everyone has ‘that thing’ that really inspires them - it could be astrology, fast cars, the wisdom of the body, or accounting! Whatever it may be for you (at any given time), you know it by the way it feels inside.
And so as each of our souls gravitates toward that which it considers to be joyful, we discover the particular uniqueness that’s inherent to the story of each soul.

I often like to think of us as flutes. I imagine that we’re all composed of different types of wood. We all have different shapes + sizes, too.
Life itself is breath, and as that breath is given space to fill these many flutes, a different song emerges from each one.
Every song is totally unique. But the same breath inspires every song.

Each of us has just one job to do. Generally speaking, our work is the same. But how that ‘work’ expresses itself is entirely unique in every case.
Our important work is to wholeheartedly pursue what we enjoy, to love what we love fully, to be filled with inspiration - and to play.
We must each allow the breath of Life to fill our souls + animate the song that’s ours to sing; this is what it means to be alive.
This is how Life grows in all directions: it magnifies itself through each of us.
