UNSTICKING STUCKNESS

 


We “get stuck” all the time. Something happens. The body tenses; the mind begins to scramble; a fist inside the gut begins to clench. Our lives move in + out of this constriction constantly. It’s a part of what it means to be alive.

And yet, the state of our true nature is not tense: it is relaxed, at ease, alert. Tension narrows our perception, clouds our inner sight, reduces our capacity to feel. We lose our sensitivity to life when we constrict.

When we “get stuck,” we go into a state of hiding, or the claws come out + we attack. We retreat or we react. We become vulnerable, or dangerous (or both).

But what if we had other options? Better options than to hurt-alone or hurt whoever-happens-to-be-near?
