HOW TO SEE-BENEATH OUR CURRENT DRAMA
I have been excited to share this particular image for months. It wasn’t until today, though, that I received the quiet inner YES that I’ve been waiting for. I love all of the things that this scene represents: playfulness; vibrancy; movement; smiles; direct, embodied connection to nature.
It struck me as uniquely relevant to the narrative unfolding on our global stage. More specifically, it struck me as particularly relevant to the parts that we each play in our own lives: those extraordinary sub-plots set against the backdrop of such complicated times.

Looking just beneath the surface panic, it becomes clear that our primary concerns are fairly basic, and ultimately very physical. We’re concerned about health, safety, comfort, wellness, cleanliness, composure. We are brought back down to earth by these concerns.
And so, despite the heady theories + reactions wreaking havoc on the surface, this whole drama finds its truest setting in the body - the physical body itself - the very ground of our human experience.

I’ve been saying this (like a broken record) for many years, that: it’s all about the body. It is my belief that the body holds the keys: not to health + wellness only, but to wisdom + prosperity as well.
It is my belief that each of us is built for more than just survival: we are sensitive + competent + capable - meant to thrive - even in moments of duress (and even sometimes especially then).
It is my belief that the inner life precedes, informs, and manifests the outer life; that, in many ways, the quality of reality is determined by the state of one’s own body.
It is my belief that we need not play victim to the world outside our bodies; we need only to discover how to organize our position in relation to it.
It is my belief that the body is a capable awareness with intuitive capacities that extend beyond our conscious grasp.
It is my belief that when listened-to, respected, and appropriately nourished, the body can + will heal itself.
It is my belief that, when appropriately supported, the body can + will sustain good health.

I have been researching these beliefs in the laboratory of my everyday life for several years. I have put them to the test. I have made observations + adjustments, drawn conclusions. I have focused my attention in two areas primarily: physical health + elegant composure under stress.

Somewhat unbeknownst to me, it seems I’ve been preparing for the very sort of world we now inhabit: a world caught in the thrall of crisis, threat, and fear. I am here to propose that we need not fall prey to what seems so apparent on the surface.
