BUT THE BIGGEST THING IS TO NOT BE AFRAID
MARCH 16, 2013
you can’t look
that far ahead, that’s the thing
you just can’t look that far.
you make the most of
what you’ve got
while you’ve got it
and then let the rest sort itself out.
the truth is, any way this goes
you don’t know what
might happen. even
when you know, you don’t know.
three days ago, it snowed in
Phoenix. now the sun
rises casting slanting shadows
from the west against a
concrete wall and
i’ve been up
since 6:40 AM, squinting
into the brightness, remembering
other surprises
like
what happened
last night, and what didn’t happen, too.
the facts are in, and they’re
simple:
you can’t be afraid of movement
for fear of the changing view.
you go with what you’ve got until
It’s something else
then
you go with that, too.
