APPLYING FOR JOBS CAN BE INTIMIDATING. (BUT I’M NOT SCARED.)

it’s the waiting that gets to you.
most of the time, anyway.
but not to me. not today.
arriving early like this, my usual way
sitting inside my car, windows
cracked for a taste of the fresh breeze
exciting the thin branches in front of me
i couldn’t be more content.
a crow on a light post squawks.
a hummingbird zips past faster than
my eyes know how to follow.
i sniffle through a stuffed-up nose
as I write.
this will be a good interview.
