A POEM ABOUT A GIRL WHO ASKED FOR ONE, AND ACTUALLY DESERVED IT

JANUARY 16, 2013

we met online
so long ago that
i can’t remember
exactly when it was but
i’ve always been
a sucker for eyes
and hers were like
none i’ve ever seen before
the way they went on forever
dark wells
of more poetry
than i could ever write
and there was
this one picture
i always loved to see
of her in
an orange sweater
seated, legs pulled to chest
elbow to knee, chin
resting on forearm reaching
hand to back of neck
and this smile
and those eyes and
a hundred thousand possibilities
spouting blossoming calling wondering

only a matter of when.
