THE HANGED MAN: A PERSONAL REFLECTION
As many of you know, the First Wave of my all-new Crystal Self Experience is underway. I decided early on that I would not only facilitate this experience, but also encounter it myself (again), alongside this first group.
The very first position that we met illuminated our Life Purpose. During the full week spent contemplating this position, I worked closely with the archetype of The Hanged Man, pictured here.
One of the (several) readings pertaining to this image opens with a statement that makes me laugh with amazement every time I read it. The very first sentence says exactly this:
You are an unusual person who has accumulated inner strength through your unique experience.
The card has me pegged. All this time, I would have said, “black sheep.”
But this card turns that story on its head. Literally.

A man, legs suspended in the air, lays face-down in a golden field. He is a symbol of surrender, but not of principle or will. (Liquid gold drips from his lips to nourish the earth around him.)
You embrace a philosophy that the world laughs at because your thinking seems wrong. Yet, without antagonizing anyone, you have quietly reversed your way of life.
You have a perfect tolerance for divergent beliefs, philosophies and lifestyles, and yet you walk in all things contrary to the world.
Your poise sets you apart from the common world, which looks upon you as a sort of oddity.

Another teacher that I worked with that first week was my Black Panther. Black Panther’s major lesson deals with reclamation of inherent power. Like The Hanged Man, he reminds me to “stay weird;” or even better yet: to stay true to the way of life that is my own.
“You epitomize wisdom,” one source says. This is true because of how I’ve “quietly reversed” my way of life. This is true because of how I’ve set myself apart from what is common, recognizable, or known.
These teachers are reminding me of who I am + why I am that way. They are inviting me to lean into the magic of that difference in recognition of its vital power.

My purpose in this life is to align myself with what is true: regardless of how it may appear to others. In doing so, my lips will drip with gold to fertilize the soil of those hearts that are prepared to lap it up.
I am no black sheep; I am a White Magician, I’m a Wizard. I am proof that what is common in today’s world doesn’t work. But there’s a Way that does work + I have been walking it for years.
Ironically, my “upside-down way” has always been right-side-up. Because of this, I’ve seen things others haven’t.
My Purpose contains the gift of sharing what I’ve learned.
