CHOOSING TO FACE THE MOVING MIRACLE
CONTEXT
I am very fortunate to have very close friends with very sincere intentions to meet life in ways that are aligned with all the very best of their potential. I had a stimulating conversation with one such friend a few days ago. A portion of this conversation is included for you here.
In this case, I have polished up my words to make them readable + hopefully enhance their impact in this form. I hope that you can find a way to let them fill you. I hope they somehow serve your deepest truth.
So. Without further ado… from my heart to yours… Enjoy.

When we connect to this idea that life itself is a continual movement, we quickly recognize the need to reconsider our perspective. If life is a holistic unfolding movement, then it cannot be controlled - we see that it transcends our mental grasp. We are forced to zoom back out from our aggressive calculations.
Life, as we can see, is always happening. Each of us must face that moving miracle, each of us is held by it. Instantly, this must shatter the assumptions + the structures we’ve built up around conceptions of what may or may not come. The future as a certitude dissolves.
Ultimately, this returns us to the mystery of Now; we come back home. So this is a very powerful realization to arrive at.

When you begin to pay attention to this movement, you soon learn there’s not much left for you to do but to surrender in some way to how it moves. You basically relinquish your attempts to guess at what may someday happen + instead bring your attention into all that actually happens as it does. And I know that this is not necessarily new for you or I. These ideas about becoming present, about grounding in reality, about becoming centered: we are already so familiar with a lot of what goes into that.
But learning to embody such a total form of trust in this movement that in every possible way so far exceeds our best attempts at mental scheming, calculation...? Now that’s terrifying. It really is. It takes a great deal of courage, a very special sort of awareness. And it is so very easy to lose contact with the truth (that razor’s-edge) of this awareness.
So we’re speaking of a challenging + genuine form of practice. We are speaking of a practice that depends upon continual refinement: persistent, unrelenting self-refinement. Imagine walking a tightrope where the tightrope is the flow of life itself. See yourself suspended on a tightrope that is moving. It’s extremely challenging work.
It’s a masterful work. It takes courage, it takes patience, it takes time.

So this is something that you live out. It’s not the sort of thing that you develop in an hour at some studio. It extends beyond the body + eclipses all the effort of your mind. It requires all of your attention all the time. It’s a moment-by-moment experience, it is total, it expands.
Fortunately, when you meet this cosmic movement with the force of your intention: so do you.
